Notice about COVID-19 and Updated Visitation Policy

We are excited to be able to expand our visitation guidelines! With most of our residents now being vaccinated, we’ve adopted revised visitor policies to help facilitate more frequent and comfortable visits with family and friends, while still keeping our residents safe. For our licensed programs, all visitors must follow the directives set forth by the NYS Department of Health. Please note the following guidelines when visiting:

  • All visitors MUST be screened on arrival for signs and symptoms of COVID-19. Required screening consists of both temperature checks and screening questions to assess potential exposure to COVID-19. Visitation will be refused if the individual(s) exhibits any COVID-19 symptoms or does not pass the screening. If you have traveling from outside of New York State in the last 2 weeks, please strictly follow the NYS travel restrictions.
  • During the visit, visitors must wear a face mask over mouth and nose at all times. We will provide face masks to visitors who lack an acceptable face covering.  Visitors must use alcohol-based hand sanitizer before and after the visit. A social distance of at least 6 feet between visitors and resident must be maintained at all times. No food or drink can be shared.

Please Note: Visitation will be refused if the individual refuses screening or to wear a mask. If any visitor fails to adhere to the protocol, he/she/they will be prohibited from visiting for the duration of the COVID-19 state-declared public health emergency.

Major news from the CDC on May 13, 2021, and with it, greater hope for normalcy in the upcoming weeks and months. We ask for your patience as we wait for New York State guidance and regulations to catch up with the CDC guidance. Retirement communities and assisted livings have different requirements than the public.  It will also take some time for the CDC to apply this guidance to their own retirement community/assisted living guidance, which as of May 14, 2021, remains unchanged. SPHP (St Peter’s Health Partners) monitors the sites closely.

Before visiting, please view the below guidelines for your specific community:

Visitation will be refused if the individual(s) exhibits any COVID-19 symptoms or does not pass the screening. Please note, all visitors must sign in via the binder located just inside the lobby attesting that they are symptom-free, have not traveled, and supply their temperature reading (must be under 100 degrees). Failure to comply will result in cancellation of the visit
  • Visits will only be held in a resident’s apartment or outside. All visitors must go directly to the apartment and remain there until the visit is over. No wandering and convening in common areas or dining areas will be permitted. Visitors must remain socially distanced from residents and staff.
  • Mask wearing, social distancing, and frequent hand washing must be followed unless otherwise noted. Please note: We will be working on our plan to open the Bistro outside patio to both Independent Residents and their guests in a couple of weeks.  This will require some planning by Dining, and Administration and will include masking, social distancing, and reservations in advance. When it is opened, and details are decided, we will let you know. For now, it will remain just for residents until the date is set and communicated. Again, we appreciate your patience and understanding as changes involve planning and details. Everything remains fluid and ever-changing across the state and nation, but it’s good!!

Masks and distancing are still required in all Independent common areas and at the Terrace. Guests are asked to only use common areas to make their way directly to the resident they are visiting with. Policies currently must remain until we receive the changes in guidance.

The Terrace and Memory Care remain regulated under the guidance of the New York State Department of Health, and by Governor Cuomo. When there are updates to what we can change we will communicate it quickly and efficiently; until then we must continue to follow their directives.

We have all waited so long for this moment so please assist us in keeping our residents safe and healthy. The residents deserve it!
