The cities that surround Eddy Senior Living form an extended community for our residents, which is why many seniors and their families consider these neighboring towns when choosing a retirement home. For residents at Beverwyck senior living community, Delmar, Albany, Guilderland, Altamont and Bethlehem are just a short drive away, and provide seniors with a variety of things to see and do.

Delmar
A small hamlet in the town of Bethlehem, Delmar doesn’t typically garner lot of attention, but it does have one surprisingly big draw for Beverwyck seniors and their grandkids: Five Rivers Environmental Education Center. The center’s 450 acres of fields, forests and wetlands acts as a living museum, with guided and self-guided tours. There’s also a visitor center, scenic trails and plenty of places for picnicking. Bethlehem
Frequently ranked among the best places to live in New York State, Bethlehem is a sparse suburb of Albany that boasts great schools and a strong sense of community. In fact, several Beverwyck residents have family living in Bethlehem. For those that find the hustle and bustle of Colonie Center to be a bit overwhelming, Bethlehem’s Delaware Plaza offers shopping and dining on a smaller scale.

Altamont
The Altamont Fair is a summer tradition, but Beverwyck residents also enjoy the many year-round events held at the fairgrounds. For pick-your-own apples and old-fashioned fall fun, Altamont’s Indian Ladder Farms is another resident favorite, as is the Altamont Free Library. Located in a historical railway station, the library offers entertainment, themed dinners, exercise programs, childrens programs, computers and, of course, a large selection of books.

Guilderland
One of the few inland Pine Barrens in the world is located in Guilderland NY. Pine Bush Nature Preserve stretches over 3,000 acres of protected land, and includes nature trails, as well as several parks with ball fields and playgrounds. Tawasentha Park, a favorite among Beverwyck residents, features areas for fishing and boating as well as a pavilion, picnic areas, grills and swimming pools in the summer.
