One of the best things about being a resident at one of our various Eddy Senior Living communities is the proximity to neighboring towns. The Capital Region is full of communities, each with their own charm.
We’ve compiled an itinerary for you to create the perfect day in Delmar. Check it out!
If you ask most of our residents, there’s no better way to start the day than with a delicious meal! After all, breakfast is often touted as the “most important meal of the day,” and no one knows that better than Perfect Blend Café. Stop in first thing in the morning, and grab your daily dose of caffeine and a bite. Perfect Blend is a great spot in Delmar for you to kick off the day, with fresh-baked pastries and sandwiches that rival their delicious drinks.
Spend the morning learning about nature at a few of Delmar’s outdoor parks:
- Five Rivers Environmental Educational Center: A living museum of 446 acres of fields, forests, trails and interior roads, ponds and wetlands.
- Pine Hollow Arboretum: A horticultural collection that highlights the diversity of the world’s forests with 22 acres of land featuring 11 ponds and a network of trails.
- Van Dyke Preserve: The property is a mix of forested lands and floodplain along the Phillipin Kill stream. The 33 acres are home to a variety of amphibians and native wildflowers.
Whether you’re interested in hiking, birdwatching, or even just learning more about our local ecosystem, these are the perfect places to work up an appetite before lunch!
Now that you’ve made sure you’re nice and hungry, let’s wrap it all up with lunch! McCarrolls The Village Butcher is locally acclaimed for their cold and hot sandwiches. This vegetarian-friendly deli is the place to get a sandwich that will transport you back to eating cold cuts from your childhood. If you’re ready for an afternoon break, take your sandwich to-go and enjoy it on Beverwyck’s beautifully manicured grounds.
